Plants & People Day
hosted by Pompano Proud
Sunday, February 11, 2018, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Under the leadership of past president Donna Torrey and with the hard work of Pompano Proud members, in 2010 Pompano Beach, Florida became the 42nd community in the United States to become a Certified Community Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF). In order to be certified, 300 homes, several business and schools must meet qualifications to sustain wildlife: Food, Water, Shelter, and Places to raise young.
Plants and People Day arose out of one of the requirements, which is to hold an educational community event, which we have continued each year since. It is a great day of family fun, education, music, food and prizes! Look for it each year in February, held at the Sample-Mcdougald House.
Free to the public. Historic house tours $5/person
