Art Workshop with Pat Anderson

Want to learn how to paint watercolors in plein air? Enjoy the sunshine of South Florida as you learn techniques for beautiful paintings by local artist Pat Anderson. Using Pat’s uniquely designed LEAF BAR tables, participants will be provided supplies and one canvas to take home.

7th Antique Car Show
hosted by the Fort Lauderdale Region AACA
Saturday, January 20, 2018, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Join us for an exciting display of antique cars, trucks and motorcycles 20 – 90 years old. The Sample-McDougald House will be open for historical tours. There will also be live music and a Cuban food truck.

A Place For All People Historical Exhibit
January 20 – April 14, 2018
“A Place for All People: Introducing the National Museum of African American History and Culture” is a commemorative poster exhibition celebrating the opening of the Smithsonian’s newest museum Sept. 24, 2016. Based on the inaugural exhibitions of the museum, the posters highlight key artifacts that tell the rich and diverse story of the African American experience. “A Place for All People” is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the museum.

Plants & People Day

Under the leadership of past president Donna Torrey and with the hard work of Pompano Proud members, in 2010 Pompano Beach, Florida became the 42nd community in the United States to become a Certified Community Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation (NWF). In order to be certified, 300 homes, several business and schools must meet qualifications to sustain wildlife: Food, Water, Shelter, and Places to raise young.
Plants and People Day arose out of one of the requirements, which is to hold an educational community event, which we have continued each year since. It is a great day of family fun, education, music, food and prizes! Look for it each year in February, held at the Sample-Mcdougald House.
Free to the public. Historic house tours $5/person
Valentine’s Day Dinner
Wednesday, February 14, 2018, 6:30pm – 9:00pm
Enjoy a one-of-a-kind vintage Valentine’s Day dining inside the Sample-McDougald House. Guests will be greeted will be welcomed with cocktails on the porch with hors d’oeuvres live roaming music. Then, guests are escorted to their group dining tables for a three course dinner. Cocktails, dinner, entertainment and romance included. Price is per couple and tables are shared by 3 – 5 couples. Menu coming soon. Includes salad, main course, dessert and wine with coffee and tea service.
